For lunch most of us guessed our way through the menu but ended up with a delicious meal ending with the ever popular Turkish tea and a visit to one of the many cake shops.
We then headed off to visit the ancient city of Troy. We saw a replica of the supposed Trojan horse and wandered along the ancient ruins, these archeological discoveries that date the city back many thousands of years. We were then treated to a short performance by James Moulden as we entered a small amphitheater. This was then followed by Mr Croft who proceeded into a solo performance of the Australian national anthem. As a crowd started to gather the students performed the French national anthem in Turkey, a little confusing but highly entertaining for the onlookers as they cheered.
When we returned some of us went to the markets while others stayed and played cards. Walking the streets was hectic and extremely crowded. We were constantly being beckoned by people to buy their products and trinkets. The markets were buzzing and full of life, salespeople willing to sweep you away and in to an ultimate, one of a kind, deal.
Dinner time began with a positive start, the chosen restaurant had an amazing atmosphere, great tunes, with sing-a-longs, ocean views, friendly service, wall art and locals betting on our nationality. There was a brain storm, with many positives, and very few negatives. All was great, a fantastic vibe all around, going to be a fantastic choice. At least- that's the way it seemed to be.
Some of us got our meals at a reasonable hour but others waited at least two and a half, so the brainstorm of negatives filled the page. Overall, the service could have been quicker but it was a good experience. Much to Mr Dent and Mr Maxwell's amusement!
To end off the day, we are currently packing and getting ready for an early start tomorrow as we leave Cannakale to head to Istanbul.
