This morning was an early start, with breakfast at 6:45 and boarding the bus by 7:30, after packing all of our stuff. It was a jolly bus ride to the airport where we unfortunately had to say farewell to our most excellent tour guide and bus driver. It was at this stage of the day that Jimmy paid his dues in full to Mr Croft after taking a selfie with him while he was asleep. This equaliser was expertly planned and executed by Mr Croft where, unbeknownst to James, rather than than thanking our bus driver in Turkish, he actually asked for his hand in holy matrimony. This was met with laughter all round at James' expense.
Our sorrowful farewell was promptly followed by the hustle and bustle of another wonderful airport experience. After entering the duty free area, students had time to scout out good shops. Georgia tried to buy an ice cream and was met by the challenge of actually getting it off of the ice cream man. Passage to our boarding gate was opened and we all sat down after our quick buying spree. Before boarding students were given a mighty quest. After assembling into pairs, we were tasked with acquiring an object from the duty free area with a cost as close to 30 lira. The first group to return was John and Dantè followed swiftly by Georgia and Georgie-Rose.
We boarded the plane with not too much of a hassle and our trans-border journey began again. The plane landed, relatively smoothly and we were ushered into the abyss that was Paris. After a lengthy wait at immigration we were finally reunited with our absolutely fav French exchange student; Mathilde. Following the eventual arrival of our bus we restarted our journey, this time through the luscious French countryside and cityscape. We got to the hotel and lugged our much heavier luggage to our rooms.
At 5 o'clock sharp we departed from our new humble abode in search of new and amazing sites. We trekked to the Paris metro and struggled to board the train. After the sardine can-like train ride we marched, lead by our glorious leader Mr Croft. The Sacrè Cœr was safely reached. The steps were towering up to the magnificent view of the lovely yet smoggy Paris. Entering the Sacrè Cœr, yet another breathtaking and astonishing view was surrounding us. Dawdling mouth ajar and tripping over our feet we took in what we could of the stunning church. Unfortunately no pictures could be taken, although I don't think they'd do it justice.
Exiting the church, surprisingly enough we were in the search for food... Again. We made our presence known at a quaint restaurant previously booked called 'Cadet de Gascogne'. Starters served were French onion soup, or as the French call it; onion soup. Mains of roast chicken and rice were then consumed by our company, followed by a dessert of some custard pudding stuff with salted caramel sauce. At this point we were all struggling to move after eating so much.
We waddled in synchrony, venturing slowly back to our hotel for some much needed rest. The question of today is, will Jimmy realise that taking sleep selfies may not be the best idea?
Find out tomorrow in the next instalment of our truly amazing adventures through Europe.
