This morning we woke up, had breakfast and had to be in the lobby at 8am, ready to head out on our Paris adventure. We put our trust in Mr Heptinstall to get us to the fire station. Some of us were not sure if we would get there or get lost (in fact most of us thought he would get us lost). At the fire station we met the French firefighter Julien who showed us around the fire station. We were given a demonstration of the fitness training that they do every morning and some of us gave it a shot but were put to shame compared to the firefighters. We said goodbye and continued on past the Louvre where we were confusingly asked by Mr Croft to have a dance. After a bit of persuading, we danced and unfortunately got snapped by one of the many cameras on deck. We did not have time to go inside even though Mrs Curran was very keen. We then entered the Notre Dame and were all in awe of the ancient church with its detailed statues and stained glass. It had obviously been kept in great condition, especially considering it is hundreds of years old and still in use today. Once we finished looking inside the Notre Dame, we decided to split into small groups to find lunch. At lunch Josh, Mason, Liam, Mr Maxwell, Jordan and Mr Dent ate a snail which, even though we were a little unsure, was surprisingly nice. After lunch we all met and headed to the Pantheon which is where important members of French society are buried. Once we were done we walked outside and were about to leave when Jordan said “dad is still inside”: when Mr Maxwell finally decided to come out, after everyone had been waiting a while, he got a big cheer from the group.
We then headed towards the Arc de Triomphe and decided we would try and get to the top but unfortunately we ran out of time so were only able to have a quick look around the base of it. After that we headed excitedly to the Eiffel Tower as this was the moment that everyone had been waiting for. When we arrived Mr Croft told us that it was around the corner. We got very excited and when we got around the corner we could only see the top as there was a temporary building in the way so we got some quick photos and walked to the base of the tower where we could get some better photos. This is where we saw Micky Mouse get arrested. We quickly split up into two groups, the first group to go up the tower were all very at ease and excited, however some members of the second group were not quite as eager as they are not comfortable with heights. The second group decided to all have a snack while sitting under the tower. We all agree that the view at the top of the Eiffel Tower was amazing and well worth the wait. To finish this very busy day off we all went to a traditional French restaurant near the Sacre Coeur. After this long and tiring day we caught the metro back to the hotel and were all happy to go to bed.Blog Changes
