Race Nights

2015 ANZAC TOUR
NOVEMBER RACE NIGHT

How The Race Night Works

This is a gaming night with entertainment.
Betting is based on the results of actual horse racing videos.
Horses are bought before the race for $25 each.
Races are sponsored by local businesses.
Details on your horses, owners, jockeys and race sponsors are shown in “Race Programs”.

The “Races” are videos of thoroughbred races, professionally re-dubbed.
Each video has 8 horses with a race caller using the number of the horses rather than names. Eight races are shown during the night.
There is about half an hour between each race.

The “Tote” is opened before each race and takes bets only on the next race to be shown. After the tote has closed, a volunteer randomly selects a race tape from an extensive library of unmarked videos. This eliminates any possibility of fixing a race.
The selected race is projected onto a large screen, with audio played through a sound system.

Once the race result is determined, the tote opens for payouts and bets.

Review

C.S.H.S Anzac Tour 2015 hosted Collie’s first ever Virtual Race Night last Saturday night. In a very successful fundraising effort, 160 people entered the High School gym to find it transformed into a V.I.P. Race Tent.  From the first race the atmosphere was electric and the crowd really entered the spirit of the night. Winning horse owners were ecstatic with the prizes that had been donated and the tote was kept busy all night, with everyone keen to make a few dollars on their bets.

Auctions were held between races and the bidding was hot regardless of the prize on offer. Donna Davies was the proud winner of the “Fashions of the Field” with Richard Heptinstall taking home the title of ‘Best Dressed Colt.’

The Anzac Tour students would really like to thank the sponsors of each race as well as the generous Collie community who supported this fantastic initiative. The next major event on the Anzac Calendar is the bi-annual Quiz night which will be held on the 13th September and another Race Night is being looked at for early in November.

    Hi All
I was just sitting here thinking of how much fun last night was. It all came together really well. From the sale of the first Race through to the cleanup today.
Everyone of you just got down and did whatever was needed. I had more people asking to do jobs than jobs to do. The Hall looked amazing the food was to die for and nothing beats an ice cold beer.
I have been approached by some of the punters from last night and although they are a little lighter in the back pocket they had a great time.
Thankyou all for your help and support.
    Cheers
    David & Judith Maxwell

The organisation was impeccable with all areas clearly defined and service quick and friendly. The food was beautiful, hot and tasty. It was also wonderful to see all the students well dressed and circulating around the room clearing up throughout the night as well as selling more raffle tickets; $100 numbers and serving the wonderful food.

  4. Hi everyone,

I wanted to add my Congratulations to you all for a fantastic job on the weekend. For those I didn't catch up with yesterday - it looks like a $10 000 night. We are just crunching final numbers and paying the final bills, so I will have a definite figure soon.

I have had so many positive comments over the past few days, particularly in regard to the students. It was amazing to see them working so hard and also to see the way they all worked together. A special mention to Rhiannon, Emma and Olivia for playing their guitars and Jordan for his speech (also the invention of the lids for the money boxes, which worked a treat). Well done all of you.

Thank you David & Judith for all your efforts, the committee and decorating crew and Simon for running and organising the bar.

    Great work everyone.

    Anthea
